How to Upload a Keynote Presentation to Zoom

Screen sharing Keynote with all available Panels.

For months I've been using Keynote for Zoom webinars and Zoom meetings, but recently had an issue where I couldn't see or enable the chat panel or participants panel, launch polls or encounter any video gallery. I ran a webinar "blind" (merely seeing the slides see below) it was awful. I couldn't see the record buttons, or the chat or participant menu, and my cohost had to send me conversation in a SMS on my phone…Not quite a disaster, just very tricky and frustrating. I'm not sure what had changed, maybe I had ticked a setting I shouldn't have previous to this recent webinar. Did this happen to you?

Dual Monitors

I just have ane screen to use for Zoom Webinars/Meetings, some of these issues might be able to be overcome using a second monitor. Just if y'all have only one screen this article is for y'all.

Afterwards some extensive testing on my part, and just recently finding a great video on how to run Keynote in presenter mode on Zoom with screen-sharing, I figured out another way of doing information technology and then that y'all now take admission to all the Zoom settings to run into chat, polls, and with the assistance of this great video, and if y'all follow the steps in the video you lot can fifty-fifty enable presenter view.

Zoom'south Assist On This Is…..

If you visit Zoom help https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-u.s./articles/201362963-Screen-Share-A-Keynote-Presentation to explain how to utilise Keynote with Zoom they don't tell you any of this, and but say to run Keynote in a "Window" Which y'all tin can't do unless yous employ rehearsal mode which they too don't tell yous. There is no mention of this catchy little setting I'm most to show you. It'due south a good idea to follow their other suggestions most Keynote preferences.

Because you cannot run Apple Keynote in a window (it only plays with animations in total screen) on your computer, yous have to use rehearsal style, and its catchy. The video below volition testify you how to do this. But at that place is another way! Thankyou Dianne Gan

Presenter View – Utilize rehearsal mode and select portion of screen to share

In that location's A Set!

I found a hidden setting that enables you to run Keynote in total window play mode at the same time as being able to admission the full floating menu of Zoom to come across the Zoom conversation panels, participants, polls and record buttons ect. Then below is my explanation of how to screen share Keynote for a Zoom Meeting or Webinar that may also include an imbedded video.

Firstly that pesky little setting that allows yous to run Keynote full screen and admission the Zoom meeting or Webinar floating menu.

Why Practise I Need This Setting?

Without unticking or disabling this setting, your keynote volition run total screen without the full floating Zoom menu options. You lot may have already experienced this, and this is the effect I had on my last webinar. You lot cannot access chat – Participants – or recording controls. You also cannot meet whatsoever video gallery.

If you try to utilise Zoom and the "Desktop i or 2" share option with Keynote, without unticking this setting y'all will encounter an orange error message telling you that you need to bring the awarding to the forepart of the screen, and screen sharing will be paused, meaning no-one volition see your slides.

Yous need to untick the option to "Share selected app window simply" in Home/settings/screensharing/avant-garde from the Domicile console in the Zoom app. If y'all are a footling vague on that, meet the footstep past stride instructions below.

Untick Share Selected App Window Only

Download the Zoom desktop app https://zoom.the states/support/download if you haven't already got it. Once installed, log into your account.

  1. Become to the Zoom Home console
  2. Click on Zoom settings peak right of the panel
  3. Click on Share Screen settings tab
  4. Click on the Advanced button
  5. Untick this box!

Now when you want to use Keynote with screen sharing click the Share Push on the floating carte bar after starting a meeting and select Keynote – Not any of the Desktops. You should at present meet all the bachelor card options in the floating Zoom bar to enable the chat box ect..

Steps to run Keynote as a Webinar Meeting screen share.

After you lot have ensured this setting is unticked –

  1. Open your Keynote slides and exit back out to to window way if information technology opens in total screen
  2. Open your Zoom desktop app and click on the meeting/webinar link or start a meeting.
  3. Get to the greenish screen share button on the floating carte for Zoom and click it
  4. Select Keynote presentation NOT Desktop 1 or 2
  5. So click the play button on Keynote to get-go slide show at full screen
  6. You will so have admission to the total Zoom floating carte du jour and chat panels.

Running Video on Keynote Sharing

Sharing Audio For An Embedded Video On Keynote

If you are playing a video every bit role of your Keynote exist sure to select Share computer sound, and as an extra pick "Optimize Screen share for Video Clip". See pic above. You volition find this card in the "More" tab far right of the floating Zoom Menu and equally options on the console when you lot are selecting which screen to share after clicking the Share button.

Other Tips Based on Comments Below

Employ a headset/mic, rather than your computers congenital in microphone and speakers, this prevents feedback (loftier screeching sound) and a "Hollow Cavern" type audio.

Set keynote to play embedded video via "Start Movie On Click" (using arrow keys on keyboard, mouse or clicker) rather than having to click the play push. The settings are in the "Movie" settings tab in Keynote on the slide that has your video embedded.

Presenting To A Form or Group?

I have used the in a higher place method to nowadays to a class, ii classes simultaneously actually. Where I could enquire students questions during my presentation and have them reply and speak to me on photographic camera.

The staff at the school, signed both classrooms into my Scheduled Zoom coming together from unlike classrooms on different laptops/smart boards. They presented my slides on a smart lath (every bit the smart lath was larger than a laptop, easier for a class of 30 students to see) via a connected laptop logged into Zoom. The staff selected the Zoom audio output for the Smart Board, just the sound input via the laptop (no congenital in mic on the smart board). They too selected the laptop camera for video of the course (the smart boards don't have a camera). This meant they had the laptop in the eye of the room to apply its built in camera, with the smart lath behind it for my slides and video of my face up in the corner of the screen.

When the students wanted to talk to me, they either spoke upwards in course and stood, or came over to the laptop and spoke to me. This worked very well with an enthusiastic and involved fellow member of the teaching staff facilitating it.

Be sure to use Gallery view in Zoom with speaker highlighted so that yous tin can see well enough the students who are speaking at the time. Y'all may have to adjust the size of the Video Gallery boxes on your screen to be able to see the class meliorate. Having dual monitors might help with this.

The kids absolutely loved information technology, and information technology gave united states a sense of me being there in person.

Rehearse it!

Lastly, be sure to exam your sound and video commencement, before running a Zoom/Keynote webinar with a friend/colleague acting as a participant. You can do a rehearsal for your webinar in Zoom, if y'all have the correct settings set up in the Webinar settings. See explanation here. https://support.zoom.usa/hc/en-us/articles/206316975-Webinar-practise-session Write all the steps down so yous tin refer back to them next time you do a webinar with Keynote….thats how this blog post was born!

I hope this helps, I searched everywhere for an explanation on how to share Apple tree Keynote On Zoom with very petty success, the video above was the best one I constitute, only I haven't seen mention of that tricky little setting anywhere…simply me?
